Friday Photo; Uig Coastline

Today sees the first day of The Lewis Chessmen exhibition in Museum nan Eilean, Stornoway.  The Chessmen will be in Stornoway until 12th September before going on display in the area they were found on 13th September in Uig Museum.  Unfortunately we do not have a picture of Ardroil beach where the Chessmen were found, but we do have this postcard of two ramblers enjoying the view while walking the cliffs of Uig.

If you would fancy a ramble around Uig, why not ‘Like’ Comann Eachdraidh Uig on Facebook and join members on one of their weekly walks.

  1. Thanks for the shout. Struggling to recognise the spot in your picture but meanwhile here’s one of Traigh Uig in 1964, looking across to the findspot from Crowlista.

All welcome on the walks and we should have a website for them before the week is out.

  2. This photo was in a bundle of other postcards of Uig, and I assumed it was somewhere in the region of Mangersta? Annoyingly the postcard gives no other details other than it was a Scottish Youth Hostel Association postcard.

Would be grateful if anyone can give a firmer/correct location!
