An important part of the TnES project is working with Comainn Eachdraidh (historical societies) and providing them with advice and support. Although we are based in Stornoway, the project will work across the Western Isles from Butt to Barra, and in the few months since we have started we have already travelled across the full length of the Outer Hebrides!
The last week of July saw us visiting the historical societies in Berneray, North Uist, South Uist, Barra and Eriskay. We met some really lovely folk, and were impressed with the amount, not to mention the very high quality, of work that has been put in by volunteers. The societies depend on their local community to support them so do your bit and get involved!
However judging by this sign we saw in Berneray, community participation may not always be a choice…
