Another success for Lews Castle

As many of you are aware, the Comhairle is looking to redevelop Lews Castle in Stornoway and is currently preparing bids to various funding bodies, including the Heritage Lottery fund, to realise this.  Part of the proposed redevelopment will include a new home for the Museum nan Eilean and the Tasglann service.  This all came one step closer today with an award of £500,000 from the Scottish Government (also a similar story here in Gaelic).

Gargoyle on Lews Castle

For those of you who follow us on twitter @tasglann you may also have seen a link to the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland CANMORE database for the entry regarding the Castle.  This includes some brilliant pictures, including the above gargoyle!
