Introducing the staff: Project Manager

David Powell, Project ManagerI’m David Powell and I’m the Project Manager and Archivist for the Tasglann nan Eilean Siar. I qualified as an Archivist in 2001 in Liverpool but my professional career has been spent in and around the Glasgow area before moving to the Western Isles to take up this post. My experiences to date has ranged from writing content for Archives Hub, running the Scottish Textile Heritage project, working as a records manager in local government and latterly working with businesses across Scotland to manage and exploit their records as commercial assets. I have a strong interest in archival access and also in training and archive education.

I’m a keen musician playing the cello and recorders and if you don’t meet me through my archive activities, you may come across me performing or singing in a choir somewhere in the Stornoway area. I can only apologise in advance.

Please excuse the almost studio portrait taken at a friend’s wedding. Its the only photo I have that makes me look even remotely photogenic!
