East Loch Roag

Last night, David and I made our way to the Breasclete Community Hall, to meet with East Loch Roag’s Comann Eachdraidh. Our aim was to meet some of their members and explain what Tasglann nan Eilean Siar was aiming to do in the next three years while working closely with the Comainn Eachdraidh. Among their successes, they told us about their “Ceilidh Nights” where a subject was set for the evening and the main aim was to informally discuss and record conversations between those present about their different experiences and stories. They told us how interesting and successful these nights had been!

David and I admired the copies of “Cuimhnich,” the Comann Eachdraidh’s annual magazine, copies of which had been taken along to show us. It was fantastic to see all the different articles together and so many photographs that so many people could relate to.

The members kindly made us some tea after our meeting and accompanied it with some beautiful cake and biscuits.  We will definately be returning if that is going to be a regular occurance!

With such a wealth of photographs and enthusiastic volunteers doing such good work, the team at Tasglann nan Eilean Siar are looking forward to working more with Comann Eachdraidh East Loch Roag in the near future!

One Response to East Loch Roag

  1. Oh yes, it was very good cake, but far more importantly, lovely people with a really passion for their area, their history and Gaelic language.
