Friday photo: A view of Lochmaddy

Lochmaddy, situated on the beautiful island of North Uist, is many a tourists first experience of the Western Isles when travelling over from Skye.

A viuew of Lochmaddy, North UistMany of the postcards in the collection were actually sent rather than just being collectable momentos sold to tourists.  This one was sent to friend in Wishaw, Lanarkshire and states “I am very sorry I could not get a view of St Kilda for you.  I will post this at St Kilda so that’s about as good. We have had a very good holiday.”

The postcard has a clear Lochmaddy postmark, but there is also a feint St Kilda postmark so they must have made it out to the island.
