Cataloguing with Kinloch Historical Society

Recently, the Tasglann have spent time with Kinloch Historical Society helping them to catalogue their archive collections in preparation for a move to the former Balallan School.  Training was given in archive sorting, arrangement and description but the bulk of the time was spent actually cataloguing!

Annie worked on a collection of humorous hoax wedding telegrams in English and Gaelic including examples from members of the Royal family and 1970s celebrities.  We suspect they had one author and were used at multiple weddings.

The team of five were firing through collections so quickly David couldn’t keep up with finding them the next one to work on and helping with queries!  Collections catalogued included: Balallan Village hall, oral history transcriptions, Kinloch Community Association, Loch Keose Angling Association and Laxay Cemetery Committee. Virtually all their paper archive collections are now catalogued which is a great achievement.

A full list will appear here as soon as the catalogues are types up and added into the Tasglann’s online database!
