Friday photo: The Broons in Barra…?

Here at Hebridean Archives, we think that an old postcard is made twice as interesting when you turn it over to read what its sender had to say. This postcard from Castlebay is no exception. It reads “Having a good time but weather could be better…A new jetty has been built at Eoligarry and the view from there is superb too! We crossed from there to Eriskay and had a glorious day there. On the return, the children saw Atlantic grey seals and cubs on the rocks. Quite unusual. See you soon, lots of love The Broons.” Unsure as to why the sender thought seeing grey seals was unusual but what is more unusual is that the Broons came to Barra!
