Great news for Hebridean Connections

After a break of Christmas it was great to return to work to the news that Hebridean Connections has been successful in gaining funding to enter its next stage. The main funder is the Scottish Government through the People and Communities Fund with supporting funding from HIE and CnES and In Kind support from Aberdeen University.

Hebridean Connections is an innovative gateway into Comainn Eachdraidh collections and genealogies for the Kinloch, Pairc, Bernera and Uig areas of Lewis.  The funding will allow a new website to be developed to allow further historical societies to participate and make their data more widely available.

A Project Manager, Quality and Data Manager and Administrative Assistant are to be appointed for 2 years.  We look forward to the site’s development and offer congratulations to the team behind the bid who have worked so hard to secure funding.
