St Peter’s Episcopal Church

On Tuesday, David visited St Peter’s Episcopal Church on Francis Street in Stornoway to meet with their new minister, Rev. Shona Boardman, and to see the archives they hold.

The archives include records relating to the day-to-day management of the church such as Vestry and finance minutes from 1889 and records of services held date from 1902 onwards.  Baptism records for 1849 onwards are held along with later registers relating to marriages and confirmations.  A full survey of the records has been undertaken and will be made available through our website later this year when it launches.

Rev. Boardman is also minister for St Moluag’s Church, Eoropie.  A prayer book once belonging to the Scottish explorer and missionary, David Livingstone, was donated to St Moluag’s by his daughter, Anne, and the donation is noted within it pages as reproduced above.
