Friday Photo; Northton Temple

This week’s Friday Photo is of Northton Temple in Harris, which has recently had some renovations made to its stonework.  Rudh’ an Teampaill, the headland that the chapel sits on, is thought to have at one point being enclosed by a large defensive wall or Dun, with the materials that made up the wall believed to have been used in the construction of the temple at a later date.  Archaeologists from the University of Birmingham worked with the local archaeology group Linn gu Linn last summer to provide tours of the site and fieldwork carried out on the headland.
