On Thursday morning, David and Donna visited Sandwickhill School to speak to the teachers and pupils on their upcoming project on commemorating the history of the school.
To show the children and the staff some examples of archives, we brought along an admission register from Sandwickhill School and also a log book. David spoke about life in the school in the early 1900’s and the differences between then and now.We also brought with us some archive standard log book covers for the volumes which are kept in the School.
Bha na sgoilearan togarrach barrachd ionnsachadh mu eachdraidh na sgoile agus bha iad math air a’ tomhais dè cho aosd sa tha an sgoil (132 bliadhna) agus cia mhued sgoilear a bh’ ann ceud bliadhna air ais (tòrr a bharrachd na tha ann an-diugh!) Dh’ iarr an Tasglann oirre leabhar-latha a chumail air tachartasan sa sgoile dìreach man a bha na Cinn-sgoile a’ dèanamh thairis air bliadhnaichean na sgoile.
Tha sinn a’ coimhead air adhart ri dè a bhios sgrìobhte anns na leabhraichean latha anns na mìosan ri thighinn!
This was such a fun visit and the children were really excited to see original records. I was really impressed that the P7 children could read the log book entries, which even I find a bit difficult sometimes!
