Friday photo; James Shaw Grant

The above postcard of school boys (and two cheeky girls) is from the collection of James Shaw Grant which Donna is currently cataloguing at the moment.  The vast collection encompasses everything from the Crofting Commission to his research for his many books to gossip he gleaned as editor of the Gazette.  The postcard is doubly relevant as the Tasglann team will be aiding Ness Historical Society with their move from their current premises to their new home in the now closed Cross School.  David and I spent a day up their last week carrying out a rough survey of their records, which proved very interesting as it gave us both a greater understanding of the huge amount of material they have gathered.  Their research material is a fantastic resource for both those interested in Ness and the history of the islands as a whole.
