Mr. Stevens and his companions of the Antarctic have got special Polar Medals granted by the King. He is on instructional work in the S. of England, the last I heard. Lt. On Sunday we went to church as usual in the forenoon. One of the country ministers preached – I think he was Mr. Mackay, of Lochs, but am not sure. I had a letter from Willie B. Macdonald on Sunday morning. He is at last getting his discharge and hopes to be home in a few weeks. He hopes then to resume his studies. His knee still gives him trouble. This is the second member of your class to be discharged disabled as a result of the war… Stornoway, 10th February. 1918

In his letter to Jean this week, Mr Gibson has been out with his camera taking photos of Mrs Gibson and the famous Barrie the cat, and he promises to send them to Jean in the next letter. He also … Continue reading

The waxworks are to be repeated tomorrow night and Mrs. Clark and I are going. Last night 250 were present and 100 were turned away. To prevent the same crowd coming again Papa has issued tickets… Stornoway, 7th February. 1918

On Friday evening there was a meeting of allotment holders to get a lecture from the Agriculture College instructor, on the growing of potatoes. There was a good turnout and quite an interesting discussion. I have put down my name for a plot. I want the boys to grow some to give to some widows who can’t grow any for themselves… Stornoway, 3rd February. 1918
